This position is in a well-structured experienced NNGOs. This position aims to provide guidance and overall technical support for Protection, Gender, gender-based violence and Child Protection in programming, strategies and processes, enhancing the Organization’s Response capacity and quality.

To develop, support, and coordinate the implementation of Protection activities including Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection, Community Based Protections (CBP), and Mental Health Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). To lead the process of protection and gender mainstreaming in the organization’s different programs.


  • Lead the development of protection and GBV strategies and relevant SOPs and strengthen protection and GBV response in-country.

  • Lead proposal development for integrated or stand-alone protection and GBV projects.

  • Lead on regular protection and GBV analysis, identifying protection issues and gaps

  • Provide technical supervision and guidance to the protection staff who are directly responsible for field implementation of Protection projects and initiatives

  • Technical contribution and participation in effective knowledge management to strengthen diversity and inclusion, including data collection, analysis, and information sharing and/or exchanges.

  • Responsible for developing case management guidelines and tools.

  • Contribute to developing tools and methodologies to better integrate crosscutting issues and prioritized development areas into protection and GBV programmes.

  • Contribute to the institutionalization and promotion of best practices and learning related to protection and GBV.

  • Responsible for networking and representation for protection and GBV related issues at the strategic level ensuring protection work is valued and understood by the wider humanitarian sector in Yemen.

  • Contribute to the development and facilitate the use of effective assessment and M&E systems in Yemen ensuring compliance with the policies.

  • Contribute to the identification, prioritization, development, and documentation of advocacy issues related to protection and GBV.

  • Collaborate with Grants and studies department, sectoral or academic actors to identify and pursue focused research initiatives

  • Develop and rollout training of staff on key protection and GBV themes and more specialized protection aspects.

  • Maintain the profile of child protection within the broader protection structure and ensure mainstreaming of child protection in other humanitarian sectors.

  • Develop high-quality prevention and empowerment activities at women and girls’ centers and survivor-centered GBV specialized response services.

Essential Requirements

· University degree in social work, social science, political science, law or related subject. Masters strongly preferred.

· 5-9 years experience in working on protection-related projects.

· Excellent written and spoken English

· Computer literate or experience, including word processing, databases/ spreadsheet uses with good numerical skills.

· Highly proficient technical report writing skills

· Experience of developing and delivering training on key protection, child protection and GBV protocols/minimum standards (required).

· Experience of GBV, CP and protection mainstreaming across other sectors.

· Proven experience of proposal development.

· Knowledge and experience of humanitarian principles and minimum protection standards, humanitarian coordination mechanisms, applying protection standards to vulnerable communities, referral services and protection service delivery, including protection monitoring.

· Demonstrated experience implementing capacity-building programs.

· Excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, flexibility, ability to improvise, excellent relationship-building, liaise diplomatically, team player.

· Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility in all aspects of working.

· Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
