We are looking for Income Security Advisor /**Social Protection Advisor** to join Income security Portfolio. As advisor, you will lead in providing technical support in the design, development and implementation of high-quality social protection, decent work, financial inclusion, and digital literacy for older persons. This role requires self-driven, creative, and independent person with knowledge and expertise in social protection, decent work, financial inclusion, and digital literacy for older persons. You will substantially contribute to testing and developing new ideas, evidence generation, thought leadership, capacity building and support to country offices, members, and partners across the world. As income security advisor, you will join a high-performing, flexible team that is global and non -hierarchical. Particularly, you will have opportunities to work digitally and connect with country offices, network members, and partners across the world.

As Income Security Adviser your responsibilities will include among others:

  • Design, resource and promote diverse age-inclusive commercial and non-commercial initiatives and partnerships that seek to better understand and improve the income security of older people.
  • Lead the development and/or support of studies on older people’s income security, including analyses of income strategies, poverty and inequality in older age, the design and implementation of social protection, decent work, financial inclusion, and digital literacy systems for the older people.
  • Lead the development and/or support the design and implementation of high-quality income security initiatives for older people in development and humanitarian contexts, including the design, implementation and improvement of social protection, decent work, financial inclusion, and digital literacy programmes and systems.
  • Support HelpAge network members and partners in advocating for improve income security for older people at the national, regional, and international level.
  • Develop, disseminate, and communicate articles, papers and think pieces on older people’s income security issues and programming practices supported by research and data.
  • Produce strategic positions, approaches, and guidance on older people’s income security to inform HelpAge’s work and advocacy across the sector.
  • Engage with external stakeholders and policy makers to advocate for older people’s improved income security.
  • Support improved Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning on income security, and the sharing and utilisation of related information, data, learning and evidence across the network.
  • Develop the capacity of the HelpAge staff, partners, and network members on income security issues through training (including coaching and mentoring), including the development of tools, training materials and guidelines.
  • Identify and develop new financial opportunities and programmatic partnerships to increase the impact of HelpAge’s programmes

Can we talk if you have the following expertise and experience?

  • You have a Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • You have at least 7-10 years international (working) experience in low- and Middle-income countries.
  • You have strong and proven management and leadership skills with a track record of success in social protection, decent work, financial inclusion, and digital literacy in development and humanitarian contexts
  • You have ability to conduct and deliver thorough analysis, research, report writing and dissemination of information to a broad range of audiences.
  • You have experience in leading thought leadership and convening of government, UN bodies, NGOs on topical issues around human rights and development.
  • You have demonstrable skills and/or experience in working with or influencing decision-makers, national governments or international institutions (e.g. ILO , UN, National governments and other agencies)
  • You have ability to think strategically and analytically.
  • You have experience of policy development, dissemination, and advocacy.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and dependably with colleagues and in a way that encourages experimentation, learning and agency.
