Lifting Hands International is looking for an Education Manager to start as soon as possible in Greece with a minimum six month commitment.
About Us
Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ refugees at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psycho-social programs.
Role Profile
Through this opportunity, you will develop your management skills and help an established NGO to sharpen and grow its services for asylum seekers and refugees. Your particular focus will be to empower refugees and foster community building through language education.

Role
Based: Serres (Northern Greece)
Minimum commitment: 6 Months
Full-time
Teach classes if needed, for instance during handover between teacher volunteers or in the eventuality of shortage of teachers
Working in cooperation with directors and program managers, overseeing a large multicultural team of international and resident volunteers
Run inductions and provide any necessary training and support in non-formal education and PSS (psychosocial support) through education to incoming volunteers (international volunteers and resident volunteers among the camp population)
Design and adapt the curriculum for each level.
Create timetables and class groups according to the evolving needs of camp residents
Write concise weekly and monthly reports on the education program
Manage the allocated budget for necessary didactic resources
Manage the online and physical didactic resources
Prepare and coordinate the distribution of homework packs when the community center is closed (due to lockdowns, movement restrictions, etc.)
Manage the library and the activities related to the library
Coordinate with other NGOs and organizations across Greece that provide education resources, training, and advice for volunteers
Essential criterias :
Background or previous experience in formal and/or non-formal education
Experience in teaching English as second language
Knowledge of the refugee context in Greece
Cultural sensitivity, basic knowledge of PSS
Curriculum designing experience
Strong people managing skills
Ability to work on own initiative and prioritize and delegate tasks
Very good knowledge of English
International or european driver’s license
23 years old +
Desirable criterias :
Delivered trainings to volunteers with no previous teaching experience
Previous work experience and Language and teaching skills in German
Previous work experience in teaching to refugees or vulnerable people
Language skills in Farsi, Kurmanji, Arabic or Greek
We offer:
Free shared housing
Five day work week + full week break after every 6 weeks of work
Monthly stipend of 350 Euros
